Starlar:what is your main job at Hasbro?

Josh Burcham: Well, I mainly work as a freelance artist for IDW Publishing. They publish Hasbro's Transformers comic books. I've also done some merchandise and concept work for Hasbro directly as well, but the comics is where I do most of my work.

Starlar:How long have you been doing the Transformers comics for ?

Josh Burcham: hmm..going on 6 years now I think, longer than I thought! heh

Starlar:what do you think of the old design that the transformers had to the new design Micheal bay introduced in the new movies?

Josh Burcham: oh it was definitely a bit jarring. i was kinda put off by a number of the concepts I had originally seen. They were just so different than what we're used to seeing for Transformers Took a good bit to get used to, but now i really enjoy the design aesthetic of the movie Transformers. Very challenging to illustrate!

Starlar:I have to ask who is your favourite Transformer , and why?

Josh Burcham: ah I'd have to be really cliche and say Optimus Prime. He's just the ultimate hero. Cant help but love the guy plus he's got an awesome voice :P wish I sounded like him

Starlar: Ah a guy after my own heart hes my fav as well lol

Josh Burcham: hehe

Starlar:Ok in all your time drawing Transformer comics , what would your favorite one that you have done be?

Josh Burcham:mm...thats a tough one!!! thats having to pick a favorite out of 6 years worth of work! lol hmm...its really easy to say my favorite is the one I'm working on right now lol Which is the Last Stand of the Wreckers I really am proud of all the work and just the quality of the story its a really great comic book. I guess for me personally, i think my favorite book I've done would probably be Spotlight Optimus Prime It pretty much came out just how i wanted it to as far as the art goes was a really fun one to work on

Starlar:What transformer is the most difficult to draw ?

Josh Burcham: hmm...you would think it'd be something huge and grand like Unicron kinda hard to say though they're all kinda hard in their own right, wait...Movie Megatron lol or almost any of the Michael bay bots :P

Starlar:What do you think of all these newones comming out like Transformers, armada , cybertron and animated and have you had to do comics for any of these series?

Josh Burcham: hm...i did do some work on the Armada Profile books from awhile back that whole saga though, Armada/Energon/Cybertron, was kinda meh to me overall neat concepts but poor execution Galaxy Force was amazing, on the other hand :P but Animated? That's in a league all of its own. I think its my favorite TF series and I had the privilege of doing a cover for one of the comic issues of TF:Animated too so. I'm pretty proud of that

Starlar:Where you a fan of transformers before you started drawing the comics?

Josh Burcham:oh yes. I wouldn't even be working on comics if it wasn't for Transformers actually. I had little interest in comics before reading the Dreamwave Transformers comics actually

Starlar:How many comics do you think you have done work on?

Josh Burcham:ah thats hard to say I think I just counted 40 different projects listed there in my portfolio that I've worked on how many actual comic book issues that is? sheesh...way more than Id like to count I'm sure lol

Starlar:There are rumor there will be another Tarnsformers movie do you think there will be more comics made for the movie gene?

Josh Burcham:oh no doubt. there's still new comics being made that tie into the previous 2 movies so once the third rolls around I'm sure there will be even more :D

Starlar:Do you ever surf the web to see what fans say about the transformers or the comics or visit fan sites to see what fans have dreamed up?

Josh Burcham: oh all the time. lol. I'm always cruising the message boards and checking out fans reactions to the books I work on. I love hearing what they have to say. What they liked, what they think needed to be improved upon and so on I'm a fan myself so there's a good chance you'll see me interacting just as much as anyone else :P
After that we said our good byes and thank yous.
He was really nice to interview , we hope to see much more of his work soon
